Black Hole

Black Hole is a single-player game and is the final work of a module called «Programming Basics» during our first semester at Zurich University of the Arts.

The goal of the course was to teach us the very basics of programming. After some introductory lessons and exercises on Processing, the final task was to build our own game based on the mechanics of the classic arcade game «Asteroids».

I decided to go with a space theme for the visual concept. In the center of the screen is a black hole and the player is steering a little rocket attempting to not get attracted by the gravity of the black hole. On its mission to escape, stars can be collected to gain points and roaming asteroids have to be avoided in order to continue playing.

The whole game was built with Processing and the illustrations were made with Adobe Illustrator.
